Prof. Dunia Jawdat

Prof. Jawdat is the Chairman of the department of Cellular Therapy Services, which includes the Saudi Stem Cell Donor Registry (SSCDR), Cord Blood Bank, Stem Cell and Cellular Therapy Laboratory at King Abdullah International Medical Research Center under the Ministry of the National Guard Health Affairs. She is a Senior Research Scientist and a Laboratory Consultant in the field of Immunology, certified by the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology.
Prof. Jawdat is a Professor of Immunology in the College of Medicine, and the Chair of the Department of Basic Sciences at the Female Branch of the College of Sciences and Health Profession at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU).
Prof. Jawdat is an active member of numerous professional societies including the International Society for Cellular Therapy (ISCT), the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), European Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EMBT), and the Saudi Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (SSBMT). She is serving as the Vice president of the Arabian Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenomics (ARSHI) and Vice President for the Saudi Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics Society (SHIS). Furthermore, Dr. Jawdat is a WMDA Quality/ Accreditation Experienced Reviewer, and Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) quality standard reviewer and inspector.
Prof. Jawdat is an active researcher, she has published two book chapters, more than 50 articles in peer reviewed journals, and more than 70 conference abstracts. Her area of research interest is immunology, specifically HLA and transplantation. She is currently engaged in immunotherapy projects and the production of chimeric antigen receptors on T lymphocytes (CAR-T Cell) that target antigens on tumor cells in order to treat cancer.
